Travel Alert | Winter Storm Advisory Expected Tuesday through Friday Across Colorado

The National Weather Service forecast calls for snow and high winds to impact much of central Colorado beginning Tuesday night (11/5). A cold front will enter the state overnight with driving winds and the potential for blowing snow and icy conditions. Impacted areas include I-25 from south of Denver to New Mexico, including Monument Hill, with particularly heavy snow expected south of Pueblo. East of Denver there is potential for similar conditions, wind, snow and limited visibility on I-70 Denver to Kansas. If the storm tracks north, I-76 may also be impacted.

As the storm moves, additional impacts are expected each day through Friday (11/8). Be advised of the following safety precautions:

Potential for road closures if visibility and conditions worsen

Wind-driven snow may cause ice, particularly on bridges and overpasses

Snow totals will vary, currently Denver is expected to get one to three inches

Commercial motor vehicles are likely to require tire chains or alternate traction devices on any mountain roadway.
